A back-and-forth battle for control of a hijacked cargo ship Wednesday left four Somali pirates holding an American captain captive as his crew bargained desperately for his freedom.
"Right now, they want to hold our captain for ransom and we're trying to get him back," second mate Ken Quinn told CNN in an interview from aboard the Maersk Alabama.
Quinn and the rest of the unarmed American crew regained control of the ship from four brazen Somali pirates, keeping one of the hijackers tied up for 12 hours after their attempt.
